BIOGRAFILM CREATIVE HUB

WHERE EDUCATION MEETS THE CULTURAL INDUSTRY AND IDEAS COME TO LIFE

Biografilm Creative Hub is an initiative by Biografilm that connects local educational institutions, offering students the opportunity to actively take part in the Festival and put their creativity into practice.

For the 2026 edition, Biografilm involved young Brescia-based illustrator Maria Giulia Pedrotti, aka Gitti, in the creation of the Festival’s official image, renewing for the second consecutive year its collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. The image is conceived as a visual synthesis of the concept developed by the Biografilm team, stemming from a shared reflection on the meaning and potential of documentary cinema. The result is a window onto the complexity of reality: an intentional gesture that reflects the Festival’s identity as a space where documentary becomes a tool for a critical, in-depth, and multifaceted reading of the world.

The illustration invites viewers to pause, observe, and question—just like the three figures depicted from behind, facing a window that opens onto an elsewhere. Beyond this threshold appears the “Biografilm building,” animated by fragments of life: glimpses of everyday scenes emerge from windows and balconies, revealing small, suspended stories. Created through the layering of different drawing techniques, the artwork conveys a plurality of perspectives and narratives, in line with the spirit of the Festival.

In the previous edition, the project involved students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, Istituto Aldini Valeriani , and Liceo Artistico Francesco Arcangeli. In particular, students from the Graphic Design course at the Academy, coordinated by Professor Danilo Danisi, developed the visual identity connected to the Festival’s official image, combining graphic design, critical thinking, and visual imagination, with the aim of highlighting the role of artistic education in dialogue with the content and opportunities offered by Biografilm.

At the same time, students from the Experimental Cinema and Animation course created the opening title sequence for Biografilm 2025: a collective project directed by Maurizio Finotto, featuring live-action footage by Federico Cesaroni, animations supervised by Simone Tacconelli, and an original score by Enzo Casucci, with Dana Caparnagiu as the protagonist.

Students from the Aldini Valeriani Institute worked on video shooting and editing, guided by teachers Antonio Capodieci and Francesco Costabile, gaining hands-on experience within the Festival’s production process. Finally, 15 students joined the Biografilm social media team as part of a creative and immersive PCTO program, documenting the Festival through a fresh, curious, and contemporary perspective, under the guidance of teachers Silvia Moretti and Sandro Natalini.
