    On Friday the 17th of June at the Biografilm Hera Theatre (Cinema Arlecchino), the ceremony for the jury’s awards of Biografilm Festival 2016 took place.





    On Sunday the 19th of June at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the award ceremony for the audience awards of Biografilm Festival 2016 took place.




  • Biografilm Festival 2016: the program is online

    The 12th edition of Biografilm Festival | International Celebration of Lives, the only international event entirely committed to promote and support biographies and life tales, will take place in Bologna from the 10th to the 20th of June 2016.

  • The actor and director GAEL GARCÍA BERNAL to attend Biografilm 2016

    Biografilm is proud to announce, amongst the prestigious filmmakers and actors who will visit Bologna for the Festival, the actor and director Gael García Bernal, particuarly memorable for his performances in No, Bad Education, The Motorcycle Diaries and The Science of Sleep alongside his recent role as the lead in the TV series, Mozart in the Jungle and for being the co-founder of Ambulante | Gira de documentales, one of the most important festivals of documentary cinema in the world. In honour of Ambulante, Biografilm 2016 will dedicate a special focus within the Best of Fest section

  • Bio to B

    Bio to B – Doc&Biopic Business Meeting are the three days of networking dedicated to the promotion of biographical documentaries and biopics which will take place from the 12th to the 14th of June as at the 10th edition of the Biografilm Festival. The project was made possible with the collaboration of D.E.R ( Documentaristi Emila-Romagna ) and with the support of the region of Emilia-Romagna.

  • Frank, with Michael Fassbender, will be the film to close Biografilm 2014

    Frank, the new comedy with Michael Fassbender, will close this 10th edition of Biografilm Festival, which will be taking place in Bologna, from the 6th to the 16th of June.

  • Jimi: All is by my side directed by John Ridley is the opening film of The Bologna Biografilm Festival 2014

    “Jimi: All is by my side”  written and directed by John Ridley (Oscar winner 2014 for his adaptation of “ 12 Years A Slave”) will open the 11th edition of the Bologna Biografilm festival which will take place in Bologna from the 6th to the 16th of June.

    It has  been announced the titles of the full-length movies which will compete at the 9th edition of Biografilm Festival for the International category. Ten are the unmissable first  previews, choosen from 400 documentary proposed by 40 different countries.

    Biografilm Festival International Celebration of Lives is proud to announce the President of the Jury for the 9th edition of the Festival: Ed Lachman. He is mostly associated with the American independent film movement, and has served as director of photography on films by Todd Haynes (including Far From Heaven, which earned Lachman an Academy Award nomination), I'm Not There in 2007 and Steven Soderbergh such as Erin Brockovich.

  • The Camera and the Eye – The movies of Ed Lachman retrospective

    Biografilm Festival 2013 dedicates a retrospective to Ed Lachman, master of cinematography, coworker, among the others, of Robert Altman, Steven Soderbergh, Todd Solondz, Todd Haynes, Larry Clark, Sofia Coppola and Ulrich Seidl. Moreover, he will be the president of the jury for the next edition of the International Biografilm competition.

  • Focus Forward – Selected shorts

    Focus Forward is an international project created thanks to the partnership between Cinelan and General Electric. Its aim consists in broadcasting stories of those ordinary people and revolutionary ideas able to change the world.In a lapse of one hundred and eighty seconds, the best short film makers in the international scene offer us another look at reality.Shorts will be broadcasted before the Festival’s films on the agenda.
