Cinemazero
Cinemazero is a cultural association founded in 1978 out of its creators' desire to share their passion for cinema with the widest possible audience. Over 40 years later—and with a renewed team of industry professionals—several thousand people have chosen to become members. This has consolidated a turnout trend over time that, on average, brings every resident of the city to the cinema at least twice a year. Indeed, Cinemazero has evolved over time into a place for encounters, reflection, and in-depth analysis, using audiovisual media as its voice to interpret and narrate the world. Over the years, it has acquired significant heritage collections, which are preserved and made accessible thanks to the work of the Media Library, the Photographic Archive, and the film materials stored at the Cineteca del Friuli.
But Cinemazero is also defined by its events—such as Le Giornate del Cinema Muto (The Pordenone Silent Film Festival), which it co-founded in 1982 alongside the Cineteca del Friuli, Le Voci dell’Inchiesta, FMK, and Visioni sonore. Furthermore, as an art-house multiplex, it is a cinema that firmly believes in the quality of its programming. This belief has led to the realization that a structured commitment to education is essential—not only for schools but also for industry professionals. This effort is recognized by the Ministry of Education, which has recently certified two of Cinemazero's instructors as expert film education trainers for the Piano Nazionale Cinema e immagini per la scuola (National Cinema and Images for Schools Plan). Ultimately, Cinemazero aims to be a space where cinematographic works of art are showcased in optimal conditions, a place for preservation and archiving, and a forum for discussion and debate, which is crucial for building an informed and educational vision.
