What is Campus
Biografilm Campus is the Festival’s educational department. Now in its fifth year, it represents the Festival’s concrete commitment to promoting education through cinema, offering training programs that nurture the talent and creativity of younger generations and make them protagonists of the present and future of society. By building networks across the territory, its goal is to spread film culture as a tool for education in diversity and global citizenship.
Projects and targets
Biografilm works with schools, universities, film schools, juvenile detention centers, educational institutions, social communities and cooperatives, migrant centers, libraries, associations, foundations and local institutions. This network also strengthens the Festival’s programming work, prompting reflection on its content and leading to side events and debates.
Professional training
Biografilm designs and co-designs tailor-made training programs to prepare highly specialized professionals in the production processes behind a film festival, meeting the demand from festivals and film events at regional and national level. The goal is to foster the development of young talent and, above all, their entry into the job market.
Activities and metodologies
BIOGRAFILM CAMPUS offers a range of film-related training programs built on participation and dialogue, aimed at nurturing and supporting the talent and creativity of younger generations. The educational projects run over multiple years and, while adapting to different participants and contexts, share the following activities:
- Screening and documentary storytelling education programs: documentary film as a stimulus for critical thinking. Using films from the Biografilm program, Biografilm Campus’s educational offering includes documentary literacy workshops and screening programs, tailored to different contexts and participants, with the aim of providing tools to interpret reality and develop critical thinking and dialogue, free from stereotypes and prejudice.
- Active participation in Biografilm: the Festival as a learning experience. Biografilm aims to be a cultural, social and collective experience capable of building community. For this reason, its educational projects seek to include a module for in-person participation at the Festival, not only as audience members but also as jurors, interviewers, debate moderators and storytellers of the Festival itself.
- Hands-on workshops in videomaking, storytelling and writing: storytelling and self-narration exercises that celebrate the diversity of talents. Each program culminates in one or more artistic projects, allowing participants to put their newly acquired skills to immediate use, showcase their abilities and experiment first-hand with different storytelling techniques. The workshops are custom-built, taking participants’ backgrounds into account and following a participatory approach: goals are defined together each time, involving the participants’ communities wherever possible.
