Chiara Valenti Omero was born in Trieste on November 12, 1963. For more than 20 years, she has been involved in film festivals, serving as artistic director of the ShorTS Int. Film Festival (organized by the Maremetraggio Association), which is held annually in Trieste during the first week of July.
From January 2011 to March 2024, she served as President of the Maremetraggio Association, with which she oversaw the production of numerous short films, including La penna di Hemingway by Renzo Carbonera, starring Sergio Rubini, Christiane Filangieri, Cosimo Cinieri, and Francesco Barilli, which premiered at the Giornate degli Autori in 2011 and whose rights were acquired by Studio Universal. Since March 2007, she has been a member of the board of AFIC (Association of Italian Film Festivals), serving as its President from 2015 to 2022.
From 2012 to 2020, on behalf of ENAIP FVG, she organized and coordinated a 300–400-hour professional course in audio/video recording techniques for inmates at the Trieste Correctional Facility.
From 2014 to 2022, for the Casa del Cinema in Trieste, he has been responsible for the conception and organization of the project Esterno/Giorno – cinematic walks on film sets in the FVG Region. From December 2016 to January 2020, he served as Vice President of the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia (Il Rossetti).
From September 2018 to September 2022, he served as Vice President of the Casa del Cinema Association in Trieste.In 2018, he produced three documentaries on the Microaree of Trieste, part of the Città Visibile project funded for 2018 by SIAE (Sillumina Call for Proposals), which involved six months of fieldwork and the creation of workshops on screenwriting, directing, and editing. The film compiling the three documentaries was invited as a special event to the 30th edition of the Trieste Film Festival (January 2019).
Since May 2022, he has served as the new Coordinator of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission, appointed by PromoTurismo FVG.
