A seemingly perfect couple rent a vacation home on a sunny Italian island. Reality does not live up to their expectations when they discover that the house's swimming pool is broken. Ignoring the fact that the island suffers from a water shortage, they ask for someone to fix it. The constant presence of a stranger invades the couple's idea of safety and starts a chain of events, causing them to act instinctively and irrationally, heading for the darkest place in their relationship.
