Here are the awards from the 20th edition of Biografilm, which after 11 days of programming closes on Monday, June 17. An overwhelming and thoughtful festival, full of screenings, guests, audiences, debates and many opportunities to celebrate twenty years of life stories and reflect on the complexity of the present.

At the awards ceremony on June 16 at 8 p.m., the festival screened the Italian premiere of Turn in the Wound, Abel Ferrara's signature poetic documentary about the experience of war in people's lives, searching for meaning in suffering, accompanied by the voice of Patti Smith.

The Best Film Award | International Competition, the prize given to the best film in the international competition, goes to Agent of Happiness by Arun Bhattarai and Dorottya Zurbó.

The Hera "Nuovi Talenti" Award | International Competition, the prize given to the Best First Feature in the International Competition, goes to Life Is Beautiful by Mohamed Jabaly.

The Best Film BPER Award | Biografilm Italia, prize to the best film in the Biografilm Italia Competition, goes to The Roller, the Life, the Fight by Elettra Bisogno and Hazem Alqaddi.

The Special Mention BPER | Biografilm Italia 2024 goes to Romina by Valerio Lo Muzio and Michael Petrolini.

The Hera "Nuovi Talenti" Award for the best debut feature in the Biografilm Italia section goes to Che ore sono by Tito Puglielli and Marta Basso.

The Special Mention Hera “Nuovi Talenti” Award goes to Sindrome Italia by Ettore Mengozzi.

The Manifesto Award, assigned to the best Contemporary Lives film, goes to Stray Bodies - Corpi erranti by Elina Psykou.

The Young Critics Award to the best film in the International Competition goes to Marching in the Dark by Kinshuk Surjan.

The Bring the Change Award goes to Lui semplicemente io by Matteo Parisi.

The Tutta un'altra storia Award goes to JDL - Behind the Wall by Deborah Faraone Minnella.

The Ucca Award - L'Italia che non si vede goes to Lettre à ma fille depuis le pays des femmes by Silvia Staderoli.

The TOP DOC Award - The Beauty of Documentary goes to Sindrome Italia by Ettore Mengozzi.

The DocPoint Helsinki Award goes to Romina by Valerio Lo Muzio and Michael Petrolini.

The Audience Award | International Competition, audience award for the best film in the International Competition, goes to Marching in the Dark by Kinshuk Surjan.

The Audience Award | Biografilm Italia 2024, audience award for the best film in the Biografilm Italia Competition, goes to Romina by Valerio Lo Muzio and Michael Petrolini.

The Audience Award | Biografilm Contemporary Lives 2024, audience award for the best Contemporary Lives film, goes to L'ultima isola by Davide Lomma.

The Audience Award | Biografilm Art & Music 2024, audience award for the best Art & Music film, goes to Una vita all'assalto by Paolo Fazzini and Francesco Principini.

The Audience Award | Biografilm Beyond Fiction - Oltre la Finzione 2024, audience award for the best Beyond Fiction - Oltre la Finzione film, goes to The Sweet East by Sean Prince Williams.
