THURSDAY, JUNE 13 Biografilm continues with, among others, a tribute to Giovanni Troilo and documentaries dedicated to mysterious places and characters

This year Biografilm, in collaboration with FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, allows an exclusive experience together with Giovanni Troilo (Putignano,1977), a director and photographer active in the film, television and editorial world, dedicating to him the review Vivi Biografilm con Giovanni Troilo. At 4 p.m. at Cinema Lumière - Sala Scorsese, two of his works will be screened: Stupor Mundi, centered on a night of music and miracles at Castel del Monte, an octagonal fortress that has been guarding the mystery of Emperor Federico II di Svevia, aka Stupor mundi, for eight centuries, and Coeurope, a portrait of the city's history and the people who live in Charleroi, a city near Brussels in the "Black Country" region. In the movie theater the director, actress Elisa Lasowski, actor Luca Chikovani and screenwriter Antonella Gaeta will be present. In addition to the review dedicated to Giovanni Troilo, it will be possible to participate in a masterclass exploring his work on June 13 and 14.

At 7 p.m., at Cinema Lumière - Sala Mastroianni, there will be a screening of Un paese di resistenza by Shu Aiello and Catherine Catella. An unprecedented event in Italian political-judicial history is that concerning Riace, which went from being a model for welcoming migrants to a target for the populist wave, with Mayor Domenico Lucano facing 13 years in prison. Film and debate will be subtitled for people with hearing difficulties by FIADDA Emilia-Romagna and enriched by the presence in the theater of director Shu Aiello and producer Serena Gramizzi.

At Cinema Lumière - Sala Scorsese at 7:15 p.m. it will be the turn of Jardin noir by Alexis Pazoumian. Over the course of three years, the director films the epilogue of the Black Garden, in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, a land where we prepare for tragedy always on the horizon, following the lives of Samvel and Avo, Erik and Karen.

The Sweet East by Sean Price Williams will be screened at BIOGRAFILM HERA THEATRE | Pop Up Arlecchino Cinema at 9 p.m. The director stages a picaresque journey through the towns and woods of the East Coast of the United States, following Lillian, a high school girl who embarks on a road trip in search of America. In the movie theater the director, screenwriter Nick Pinkerton and lead actress Talia Ryder will be present.

At Cinema Lumière - Sala Scorsese, at 9:15 p.m., Uzeda - Do It Yourself by Maria Arena, who will be present. The documentary offers a portrait of the band Uzeda, called to play all over the world, but always returning home, to Catania, starting with the meeting in 1991 that was the beginning of its success.

At 9:30 p.m., at Cinema Lumière - Sala Mastroianni, there will be a screening, organized in collaboration with SEENL and Pordenone Docs Fest - The Voices of Documentary, of The Kyiv Files by Walter Stokman. The director, who will be present, documents three stories that emerged from the former KGB archive in Kyiv, made public in 2017 when Ukrainians gained access to their Soviet-era personnel files.

At the same time, at 9:30 p.m., the Chiostro del Complesso di Santa Cristina “della Fondazza” will host the third installment of Omaggio al cinema catodico di Paolo Caredda: Videogames. Best 50 Videogames Ever by Paolo Caredda and Lucio Apolito is a mockumentary made with different techniques about 50 video games that are narrated, explored or simply shown in the space of about a minute each. Spectrum Diamond: the Myth and the Legend of Matthew Smith by Paolo Caredda, Lucio Apolito and Alessandro Diaco traces the story and disappearance of the programmer of the best-selling 1982 ZX Spectrum video game, Jet Set Willy. The screening is forbidden to children under 14 and accessible to TEEN season ticket holders, and will be accompanied by Dr. Pira and representatives of the Opificio Ciclope collective, who will be present in the movie theater.
