bauhaus forever.
One of the key artistic schools of the early twentieth century, the Bauhaus has been dead for nearly a century, but its ghosts continue to build: the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin becomes a shifting construction site shifting between memory and future, cyclically closed, planned, postponed, and rebuilt. The documentary is constructed as an architecture of light, dust, silence and thought, elevating a place as a metaphor for the present. It follows researchers, curators, and artists intent on reflecting on creation in the midst of crisis and the remainders of an idea when its material forms vanish. A meditation on unfinished modernity and the impulse to continue: to think, to fail, to rebuild.
