Doc Around Europe New Talents
In the sacred mountains of Southern Mexico, the sabia Doña Paulina confronts the uncertain future of traditional Indigenous medicine, at a time when the Western world is validating the therapeutic potential of psychoactive substances for mental health and neurological conditions. The film is a contemporary elegy shaped through the ancestral rituals led by Paulina and her intimate conversations with Mother Nature. Paulina is one of the few remaining ‘medicine women’ of the Sierra Mazateca, a keeper of spiritual knowledge rooted in generations of symbiotic life with the land. What is lost after her death, just as modern medicine begins to speculate on this atavistic knowledge?
