At the Futa German Military Cemetery, over thirty thousand soldiers rest in a landscape built like a labyrinth. The film seems to dialogue with one of the most iconic scenes from Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest, sharing the same tension between tragedy and modernity, between horror and everyday care. Here, a caretaker catalogs remains resurfacing from the woods, a theater company performs The Magic Mountain among the graves, and visitors and passers-by traverse the monument. A community, through small and persistent gestures, converts a place of death into a living space, profaning its sacredness to reactivate memory.
