Make It Real Award 2026 goes to Marco Visalberghi

29 May 2026

Each year, the Make It Real Award is presented to professionals who have distinguished themselves in the field of film production and distribution, including documentary and beyond. For this edition of Bio to B – Industry Days | DOC, the award will be presented to Marco Visalberghi, founder and CEO of DocLab, one of Italy’s leading documentary and factual production companies.

Among the most significant titles produced by Marco Visalberghi are Gianfranco Rosi’s Sacro GRA, awarded the Golden Lion at the 70th Venice International Film Festival — the first documentary ever to receive the festival’s top prize — and On The Bride’s Side, awarded at the Venice Film Festival and recipient of the Grand Prix at the Geneva International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights. Recent international productions include the event series 1968mm for ARTE, Art Crimes for SKY ARTE and ZDF-ARTE, and Stray Bodies by Elina Psykou, presented at Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, CPH:DOX, Zagrebdox and Biografilm Festival, where it received the Manifesto Award.

In recent years he has also supported debut features by emerging filmmakers, including Caveman – The Hidden Giant by Tommaso Landucci, presented at Venice’s Giornate degli Autori and Festival dei Popoli, and Last Stop Before Chocolate Mountain by Susanna Della Sala, selected for Locarno’s Semaine de la Critique, winner at the Richmond International Film Festival, and shortlisted for the David di Donatello Awards. He is currently producing Della Sala’s second feature film, Anonimi Romani.
