Simone Catania
Simone Catania is a director and producer. In 2007, he co-founded Indyca in Turin (Italy), an independent production company focused on international co-production cinema movies. Graduating from Eurodoc in 2011 and Eave in 2013, Simone produced films that
premiered at major international festivals such as the Venice Film Festival, SXSW, IDFA, HotDocs, and were nominated for EFA, Nastri d’Argento, to name a few.
A mysterious skin condition on his hands forces filmmaker Rocco Di Mento to confront his long-repressed anger. Haunted by memories of destructive relationships and encouraged by the support of a self-help group, he turns his camera toward the person he has avoided for years: his younger brother Mattia, the emotional fault line of a fractured family. Blurring the line between documentary and performance, VELENO transforms reality into a space where the unspoken can finally emerge โ and where healing might become possible.
