Everybody to Kenmure Street
In May 2021, at the dawn of the first day of Eid celebrations, an immigration enforcement team carried out a raid on Kenmure Street in Glasgow, in one of Scotland’s most multicultural neighborhoods. They detained two men, Sumit Sehdev and Lakhvir Singh, and placed them in a van. What followed was one of the most striking and successful acts of spontaneous civil resistance in recent years, as hundreds of residents took to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbors. The film chronicles a pivotal and emotional moment in recent UK history, and a powerful testament to collective action in the face of institutional injustice.
