Between Brothers
After the death of their mother, two elderly brothers, René and Rob, make a final attempt to come to terms with the wreckage of their past. René lives as a recluse in a house overflowing with objects, while Rob, a retired psychologist, intervenes. Their lives have been marked by the mysterious disappearance of their father when they were children. Filmmaker Tom Fassaert, Rob’s son, documents their tragicomic exchanges—shaped by a mix of underlying irritation and deep, unspoken affection. He joins them on a journey in search of traces of a man who left nothing behind. What remains, however, is a family pattern of withdrawal and emotional retreat, each in their own way.
