There seems to be an invisible appointment binding three generations of my family: my grandfather Veniero, my father Italo, and my brother Giacomo were all arrested at the age of 19. In 2011, during the indignados protest in Rome, Giacomo throws a pole ata police officer. After eleven years of trial, he is sentenced to six years and six months in prison. Before him, in ‘31, my grandfather was arrested by the Fascist regime; in ‘71 my father, one of the leaders of the Roman student movement, ended up in prison during the years of political struggle. Il tempo sospeso isa journey through family memory and Italian history, questioning this inheritance and trying to understand why, in every genera-tion, rebellion seems to resurface at the same moment in life. Through family archives, trial documents, and footage from the protest,the film weaves together private history and collective history.
