Lo Spazio Letterario is both a book and a place; it is a project, a group of people, a complex intertwining of ideas and relationships.
Founded in Bologna in 2022, Lo Spazio Letterario was established with the aim of promoting the appreciation and dissemination of literature through initiatives and opportunities for engagement that bring people together, fostering a community of readers and cultural practitioners. In 2023, Lo Spazio Letterario became part of Italy’s Third Sector as an Associazione di Promozione Sociale (Social Promotion Association).
Lo Spazio Letterario is a work without the work itself; it is a remarkable act of subtraction, an absence with the power to fill a void, a “lack that is the centre and the life of meaning, the reality of the word”.
In just a few years, Lo Spazio Letterario has built relationships with dozens of local organisations—including bookshops, associations, libraries, and other cultural institutions—generating an almost continuous flow of cultural activities and establishing a year-round programme of events.
Its main activities include the annual literary festival Grisù; the Premio di poesia e narrativa Lo Spazio Letterario, now in its fifth edition; ongoing programmes such as Raggi Gamma; the Residenze di scrittura, which have already hosted numerous internationally renowned authors; and the long-established weekly workshop dedicated to contemporary poetry.
