The Desert of the Real

An artist, a musician, a researcher, a psychologist, a psychiatric caretaker, and a philosopher: they have all experienced psychosis and now recount it without filters. From their stories emerge frightening and alienating moments, but also ecstasy and creative associations. Their living rooms gradually transform into movie sets, and certain situations are recreated exactly as they describe the sensation of being inside a film during their psychosis—an experience known as the ‘Truman Show delusion.’ The film raises existential questions: How do you know you are awake? What is reality? And it suggests, as one of the protagonists claims, ‘that people with psychosis have a normal response to a completely crazy and disturbed society.’
