SONGS OF AMABILIA
A masked figure roams no man’s land. Among debris, illegal dumping sites, and poisoned rivers, a revolutionary priest becomes the voice of a people, marking the dawn of a new consciousness. An environmental activist, a bookseller keeper of the land’s secrets, a Casale resident embodying resistance to the Camorra, and a witness to biocide count down the future of an entire nation. The earth breathes toxic fires, yields rotten fruit and dead animals. It prays and cries out under the name Amabilia — prophetic songs of a disaster already unfolding. Caught between the civil and environmental struggles of the late 1970s and the dystopian landscapes of contemporary Italy, a portrait emerges of a wounded country, broken by the deadly web of state, industry, and eco-crime.
