"Sur l'Adamant", in its Italian premiere, opens on 9th June at Bologna Biografilm Festival 2023 with the attendance of director Nicolas Philibert, who will receive the Celebration of Lives Award.
84 films will be screened at the 19th edition of the festival.
The 19th Biografilm festival opens on Friday, June 9, in Bologna until June 19 and on MYmovies from June 10 to 21 viewable from all over Italy. It starts at 4 p.m. in the Mastroianni Room at Cinema Lumière with Candy by Carin Goeijers, a musical and intimate portrait of internationally renowned Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer, who, following the pandemic, decides to reinvent herself.
At 9 p.m. at the Biografilm Hera Theatre Pop Up Cinema Medica 4K, Sur l'Adamant by Nicolas Philibert will open the festival. The Golden Bear of the last Berlinale edition comes to Biografilm in its Italian premiere. During the evening Nicolas Philibert will receive the Celebration of Lives Award. The Adamant is a day care center along the Seine, a floating facility that houses adults with mental disorders. The documentary respectfully observes fragile people by allowing them to express discomfort and expectations and tells us about the strong commitment made by the center's team. It is a work that marks the return of one of the great international documentary filmmakers with a film that overturns the image of "invisibility" of people with mental disorders often depicted in a dehumanizing way. Sur l'Adamant will be distributed theatrically by I Wonder Pictures.
On the first weekend of this edition Biografilm will have the pleasure of hosting the Italian premiere of The Book of Solutions, the latest film by Oscar winner Michel Gondry in the presence of the director. The screening will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 3 p.m. at the Biografilm Hera Theatre Pop Up Cinema Arlecchino.
