Biografilm Festival’s 20th edition will take place from 7 to 17 June 2024 in Bologna

The 19th edition of Biografilm represented a turning point for the Festival. Starting from the main topic "To be and to have", inspired by the homonymous documentary by Nicolas Philibert, we wanted to go back to the foundations of konowledge, reflecting on our own identity and focusing on the political issues that are also part of our daily lives. It was also the first edition with the artistic direction of Chiara Liberti and Massimo Benvegnù, who with the synergy created with the Programming team were able to bring a selection attentive to all issues of today's world, with the aim to listen but above all to give a voice with debates and valuable opportunities to meet directors and protagonists.

In addition to traditional meetings between audience and talents, Biografilm has carried out a fruitful network of collaborations and synergies in the region with associations and other cultural entities, which share a strong social commitment with the Festival. Thanks to the network, a new jury was created: the Manifesto Jury, made up of representatives of the associations Arca di Noè, La Casa delle Donne, the Cassero LGBTI+ Center, Gruppo Trans, Next Generation Italy, Period Think Tank, WeWorld which judged the films of Contemporary Lives.  Moreover, this year Biografilm has created together with these realities and BURŌ Cafè a series of free events and talks to promote specific films, called Biografilm Off.

Biografilm's commitment to reduce its environmental impact keeps going. The Festival is a member of the AFIC (Italian Association of Film Festivals) Festival Green project. In particular, this year Biografilm has engaged in many widespread actions such as, for example, facilitating the accessibility of the places of the initiative by public transport with clear information on the site and on the programme, reducing the amount of printed materials (programmes, catalogues, flyers, brochures , postcards, etc.) and use certified paper in order to counter waste of paper, also promoting the use of digital means also for the ticket service, a process of choosing generic graphics has begun for the creation of displays also useful for subsequent editions and choose supports and structures that can be reused over the years, guarantee correct differentiated waste collection, suitably set up and communicated in collaboration with the Hera Group and choose accommodation facilities close to the initiative's headquarters. The results of Biografilm's commitment are positive and soon the Festival will be able to make public a report of the objectives achieved and from these begin to set the work to set further objectives for the 2024 edition. Biografilm engages in communication of actions and results of Green Project to make the Festival audience aware of the importance of individual behavior for the achievement of common goals.
