SUNDAY, JUNE 9 Biografilm continues with a day packed with events between the global and the local

The third day of the festival opens at 4 p.m. at Cinema Lumière – Sala Scorsese with Helke Sander: Cleaning House by Claudia Richarz. The director and producer Carl-Ludwig Rettinger will be on hand to present this biographical documentary on Helke Sander, a pioneer of the German feminist movement. A discussion by the Italian Women's Library - Orlando Association will take place after the screening.

At the same time, at 4 p.m., at the BIOGRAFILM HERA THEATRE | Pop Up Cinema Arlecchino, to meet the great demand of the public, there will be a repeat performance of Romina by Valerio Lo Muzio and Michael Petrolini, the first sold out of the Festival. The documentary tells the protagonist's story of social redemption through sports in the Bolognina neighborhood.

Another Body, a debut feature by Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn, will be screened at 4:45 p.m. at Cinema Lumière - Sala Mastroianni. A compelling personal story that humanizes a vast social problem, that of “deepfake” pornography online.

At 6:30 p.m. at Cinema Lumière - Sala Scorsese, in the presence of directors Elettra Bisogno and Hazem Alqaddi, will be screened The Roller, the Life, the Fight. A sadly topical look at a collective phenomenon through the stories of Elettra and Hazem. Both arrive in Belgium, he after a painful journey from Gaza, she to study cinema. The screening is organized in collaboration with Assopace Palestine, Cantieri Meticci and Alliance Française Bologna.

At the same time, at 7 p.m., the Cinema Lumière - Sala Mastroianni will screen Nomade che non sono altro by Fedora Sasso. The documentary, through numerous testimonies, tells the story of Nomadi, among the longest-running Italian bands, up to the special concert in 2023 to celebrate 60 years of music history. The director and Fabio Mancini for Rai Documentaries will be present.

The evening will also be very rich. At 9 p.m., at Cinema Lumière - Sala Scorsese viewers will be able to watch Vanessa Hope's Invisible Nation. A never-before-seen portrait on the political and human figure of Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen, the first woman to hold this position, and an investigation of a key place in contemporary international politics. Director Vanessa Hope and producer Ted Hope will be present to receive the 2024 Celebration of Lives Award.

At 9:30 p.m., Cinema Lumière - Sala Mastroianni will feature a screening of Sindrome Italia by Ettore Mengozzi. The documentary, in official selection at Bio to B - Industry Days 2022, casts a glance at the phenomenon, still unknown to us, of “Sindrome Italia,” which affects many Eastern European women suffering from states of anxiety, depression and insomnia. The director and producer Francesca Cimolai will be present.

Also at 9:30 p.m., at the Chiostro del Complesso di Santa Cristina “della Fondazza” there will be a screening of Reas by Lola Arias, in collaboration with Gruppo Trans, Il Melograno and Cassero. Closing the day is Philipp Fussenegger and Judy Landkammer's Teaches of Peaches, scheduled for 9:45 p.m. at the BIOGRAFILM HERA THEATRE | Pop Up Cinema Arlecchino. The documentary, introduced by Some Prefer Cake | Bologna Lesbian Film Festival, which is also collaborating on the screening, chronicles the transformational journey of feminist icon Peaches during “The Teaches of Peaches Anniversary Tour” in 2022.
