The titles selected for Biografilm from the filmography of Ra di Martino (Rome, 1975) focus on the restitution and interpretation of memory through different bodies and voices that investigate both physical and mental places. Able to use an effective spectrum of visual and narrative solutions, Ra di Martino's production juggles tableaux vivants and verbatim, original material and dubbing, reaffirming the creative tradition of Italian cinema in the overlapping of the right sound with the right face so dear to Federico Fellini, among others, who was never reluctant to emphasise its infinite possibilities. In this, cinema and filmmaking in the broadest sense - from creation to production and realisation on the set to the finished work and its subsequent placement, or otherwise, in the collective imagination - are understood by Ra as a complex and at the same time ideal method of investigation to fully explore the relationship between reality and fiction.
