Eleventh edition
Bio to B is the annual event that Biografilm dedicates to business to business networking between professionals of the audiovisual, in collaboration with Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. The Industry Days aim to promote and support Italian and European productions of character driven documentaries, docuseries and biopics, to encourage networking, updating and the exchange of good practices between professionals in the sector and to facilitate sales, options, co-productions and selections of new audiovisual projects.
In its ten years of activity, Bio to B - Industry Days has become a point of reference for the Italian and international documentary sector, and since 2022 it dedicates a particular focus on relations between publishing and audiovisual, making available a privileged and unique space,in which to propose, option, sell and acquire published stories to be transposed, and original subjects intended for both the editorial and audiovisual markets.
From 2024 Bio to B - Industry Days will be enriched with an additional session dedicated entirely to emerging producers in collaboration with Ji.hlava IDFF and with the support of the Emilia Romagna Film Commission.
Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival is among the largest documentary festivals in Europe and the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. The festival retains a distinctive and progressive programming approach and has built innovative industry projects for over 1,000 attending film professionals. The 28th edition of Ji.hlava IDFF takes place on October 25 – November 3, 2024.
The program Emerging Producers by Ji.hlava IDFF was born in 2010 and selects eighteen European documentary producers who are being provided with extensive educational, networking, and promotional support. The workshop takes place over the course of two sessions: one during Ji.hlava and the second at Berlinale. For the session taking place in Bologna, 10 more producers will attend the workshop.
* CALL EMERGING PRODUCERS FROM EMILIA ROMAGNA *
WHAT
A training program for emerging producers from Emilia-Romagna parallel and integrated with the Bio to B - Industry Days 2024 program on 10, 11 and 12 June. The session will be held entirely in English and in person with tutors Irena Taskovski, Paolo Benzi, Jarmila Outratová and Marek Hovorka.
WHO
The workshop is aimed at 10 producers who meet the following requirements:
Registered office of the production company in Emilia Romagna or, in the case of freelance producers, resident in Emilia-Romagna;
Proven experience in the local and/or national market, aspiration to enter the international market;
At least one long or medium-length production that has had festival or theatrical distribution.
HOW
Call closed to apply for Emilia-Romagna emerging producer training program.
Registration of projects is free and it is subject to selection by the organization. The deadline for submitting projects for selection is Sunday 28 April 2024.
SELECTION
The selection is at the sole discretion of the organization and takes into account the following criteria:
company profile;
candidate's resume;
motivational letter.
In the case of a company, it is possible to nominate only one producer per company.
PARTICIPATION
The selected producers are entitled to:
participation in the Emerging Producers session;
inserting your profile on Bio to B - Industry days paper and online catalog;
one accreditation Bio to B – Industry Days Emerging Producer;
participation to 3 networking lunches, 6 networking coffee breaks, 3networking cocktails;
dedicated 50% discount on the entrance ticket to attend the screenings of Biografilm 2024.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ALL ACTIVITIES WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN ENGLISH.
Producers regularly registered for the call and not selected will be able to request an Industry accreditation at a discounted price to participate in the work of the 3 days of Bio to B - Industry Days.
STATEMENTS
By sending the participation form and the requested documents, the candidates automatically express their willingness to participate in the call, declaring and guaranteeing the truthfulness of the information reported in the form and in the documents sent in support of their application; and authorizing:
the transfer of all documentation to the experts and organizers of the event with the aim of making the evaluation of the applications possible;
in case of selection, the presentation, publication, dissemination of the contents and materials provided as part of the Bio to B - Industry Days event, for the purposes of carrying out the event as well as for dissemination and promotional purposes;
the sound, audiovisual and photographic recordings of all the activities that will take place during the event and their use according to all necessary and appropriate methods for the purposes of carrying out the event and for its promotion.
ORGANIZATION DISCLAIMER
The organization and its partners will not be responsible for:
any late, unreceived, garbled, distorted, or damaged submissions or entries;
malfunction or failure of telephone, electronic, hardware, software, Internet network or other computer or communications failure;
any damage or loss of contents caused by events beyond the control of the organization or due to force majeure or unforeseeable circumstances;
any printing or typographical errors present on the materials associated with this initiative.
The participants therefore hereby renounce any claim regarding the facts listed, against the organization and its successors in title.
EXCLUSION OF PARTICIPANTS
The organization reserves the full freedom to exclude participants and/or winners who:
have made false or untruthful statements regarding their identity;
have not accepted and respected all the conditions set by the call;
have not sent the form completed in all its fields.
The participants hereby renounce any claims in this regard.
UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CLAUSES
Participation in the call entails the participant's unconditional and total acceptance of the rules contained in this call without any limitation.
DATA PROTECTION
In compliance with current legislation, the organization informs participants in the call that the personal data sent will become part of a data archive in the possession of the Fanatic About Festivals Association and will be processed by it in accordance with the legislation in force regarding protection of personal data.
The organization will not transfer to third parties or communicate the personal data of the participants and candidates, except for those necessary for participation in the event and for the execution of the obligations deriving from this relationship.
