Sicilian, 84 years old, Letizia Battaglia is recognized as one of the most important figures in contemporary photography for the civil and ethical value always at the base of her photos and for her ability to affect the collective imagination.

Shooting the Mafia, by the Italian-Irish documentarist Kim Longinotto, is the portrait of the first Italian photoreporter in Palermo during the years of the mafia’s massacres. From work to document the deaths of the Mafia, to political commitmentfor environment and women. And Biografilm Festival has chosen this film to celebrate the life of a woman universally known and appreciated as Letizia Battaglia.
