Contemporary Lives

(Svizzera, Canada / 2018 / 90’)

“Cher journal”, dear diary… The high school’s years are a hard time for everybody. For the Mathieu-Martin High students, in Canada, these years were harder: in 1999 some students killed themselves. Samara comes back in his city, full of intense memories, and among the hallways of the “Suicide High”. Snooping through old secret diaries’ pages, home – VHS and a thousand old pictures, the directors and his friends live again the pain of a broken adolescence. Through kaleidoscopic sight, the film comes back to the Nineties to assemble its message of hope, demonstrating how life is truly beautiful, despite its complications.
