When in 1990, in a stark Parisian room, Michel Houellebecq began writing his famous essay Rester Vivant, he was hanging on by a thread. If he didn’t let go, it was thanks to literature. Today, Iggy Pop revisits his words, drawing the spectator, as well as the author, into a dialogue. This reflection explores the subtle differences between individuality, eccentricity and madness, the increasingly tight margins in which search of an impossible equilibrium, the role of artists in society, the ability of the words to save our lives, time and time again. And a message of hope beyond all cynicism: persevere, at all cost, let your poetry spill out even if doing so rips the soul apart: "Do not be afraid, the worst is over."
