In Montichiello, a small Tuscan hamlet, village life is brought to the stage: each year since the 1960’s, a community and its history are represented through theatrical performances, from memories of the past to the main topics of the present. The film follows the preparations for the latest show, with characters and stories that are woven like threads into a collective identity, determined to withstand the economic and social crisis. A mise-en-abyme that revives the magic of Poor (and indomitable) Theatre, suspended between the heritage of rural life and a dialogue with new generations – crucial in order to keep alive the tradition. An insightful reflection on the kind of national heritage that can truly save Italy: our stories and the ability to tell them.
