Contemporary Lives

(Danimarca / 2016 / 80’)

Sex, as seen from a couch: that of a casting call. The initial idea, in fact, was to make a film about women's desires, frustrations, thoughts and lies when it comes to the vast universe of sex. But as the casting in Copenhagen continues, and a hundred-or-so young women speak up in front of the camera about their erotic fantasies, preferences, adventures, and insecurities, the two filmmakers realise that they have already found what they were looking for – a revealing tale both collective and intimate. The ‘set’ is the couch itself, transformed into a place for exploration and sharing, the eternal female space. A rare insight into the secret language of women's sexuality, between passion and shame, shame and pleasure.
