Bobbi Jene Smith left the United States to join the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, where she found her mentor in the shape of the choreographer Ohad Naharin, the inventor of Gaga, the ‘language of movement’. Star of the company, Bobbi also found love with her colleague, Or. And yet, after ten years in Israel, she still feels neither at home nor satisfied: she decides to return to the United States. Elvira Lind's film is a thrilling journey of this transitional time, following the creation of Bobbi's new original choreography as the artist grapples with life in San Francisco and with the difficulties of a long-distance relationship with Or. A film full of grace that embodies through physical poetry the most difficult dance of life, that of relationships and self-actualisation.
