For the first time ever, a jury of top international sellers will judge the projects and award financial grants for the winning projects. Also, for the first year, training will take place with the renowned director and producer Stefano Tealdi.

The call for projects for Bio to B – Doc & Biopic Business Meeting has officially opened. Bio to B is the moment which Biografilm Festival - International Celebration of Lives dedicates to business to business networking between professionals, with the objective of promoting and supporting Italian and European productions of biographies and biopics. The fourth edition will take place in Bologna between the 15th and 17th June 2017.


Over the course of the event, there will be project pitching, round tables, talks and the opportunity to organise one-to-one meetings. Bio To B is characterized by the presence of established film professionals: representatives from key international sales companies, a selection of the most interesting European distributors, international festival directors and programmers, commissioning editors and representatives from the major national TV channels of film and documentaries.


For the first time ever Bio To B will have a jury, made up of 9 top international sellers which will award three grants for the best projects in the following categories: best European project (€3,000), best Italian project (€2,000) and best project from Emilia-Romagna (€1,000). It is possible to win in more than one category.

Also new to 2017 are the training sessions available for the selected project teams. The training sessions will take place with director and producer Stefano Tealdi, who is specialised in documentary and will hold sessions on Fine Tuning Your Project Presentation, a training session on how best to present one’s project.

The ultimate deadline to apply for selection is Monday 24th April 2017. 

From the applications received, a maximum of 20 films, between work in progress and rough cuts will be selected, with at least five of these being produced or co-produced in Emilia-Romagna.



Born in South Africa, he graduated in Architecture. He established Stefilm in 1985 where he develops, produces and directs documentary features and series, including Citizen Berlusconi (2003), Mostar United (IDFA 2009), Vinylmania (IFFR 2012); Char, No Man’s island (Berlinale Forum 2013), The Queen of Silence (IDFA and best doc at Krakow FF 2015), In the Belly of the City (15 part doc series). EAVE graduate and European Documentary Network chairman (1998-2000) he tutors for Biennale Cinema College Venice, Festival di Cannes, Documentary Campus, Durban FilmMart, EsoDoc, 3 Continents - Produire au Sud, Ouga Film Lab, Scuola Holden, TFL-Torino Film Lab, ZagrebDox Pro, ZELIG Film School.
