Celebration

Each year Biografilm Festival suggests a theme which leads the audience to the discovery of a movement, an artistic trend or other relevant issues.

This exploration - called Celebration - is explicated through an homage Biografilm pays to great photographers who, with their work and their images, have been able to encapsulate the imaginary of the chosen issue.

The Celebration includes urban exhibitions and other events which become the skin of the festival, giving a flavour that cross the entire programming and makes each Biografilm Festival edit.

The Biografilm 2012 Celebration will overcome the traditional evocations of fixed and recognisable ages (Back to Woodstock, Italy’ 60s, ‘85 - ‘86 The beginning of the future) and therefore it will wander through different historical times with the aim to narrate all the times the world has ended.

As the artistic director Andrea Romeo explained “the celebration will move from the questionable still fascinating mythology which depicts the 2012 as the year of the ‘end of the world’ , to explore it and overcome it.

We aim to create an artistic and intellectual link with the last year theme, ‘The beginning of the future’ since, ideally, beginning and end detect the same frontier: the change.‘

In the past the celebrations hosted at Biografilm Festival were suggesting that perhaps another world is possible.     In 2012, we think the selection of the contents might help us to realize that "another world is necessary".
